Kiko Privacy Policy
Kiko is a learning app for children aged 5–10. This policy explains, in plain terms, what stays on the device, what never leaves it, and the little that is collected in the parent zone.
Prepared for publication — final legal review recommended before commercial launch. This document was prepared for AXPERTZ against current applicable Indian requirements. It has not been reviewed or approved by a qualified Indian legal practitioner and is not legal advice. Anything marked OWNER / LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED still needs a decision from the owner or their adviser.

1.The short version
What this means for your child
Kiko never asks a child for an email address, a photo, or a birthday. There is no account to create and no login. A first name and a grade level — typed in once, by a parent or the child, during setup — are stored only on the device Kiko is installed on. Nothing about your child is uploaded anywhere.
- No account or login for the child, ever.
- No collection of email, phone number, precise location or photos.
- No camera or microphone access — the built-in narration speaks to the child; it does not record them.
- Learning progress, drawings and settings are stored in a local database on the device and are not synced to any server.
- Ads (where shown — see below) are never personalised and are never shown inside a lesson.
2.Who We Are
Kiko is made by AXPERTZ, the software product brand of AXPERTZ ONLINE CONNECT LLP, based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we act as the party responsible for the data practices described in this policy.

3.Who Kiko Is For
Kiko is directed at children roughly 5–10 years old, and is also used directly by parents to set up a profile and review progress. Because it is child-directed, we apply COPPA (United States), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code principles, and the children's-data provisions of India's DPDP Act as a baseline for the whole app — not only for verified-child users.
4.What Kiko Collects, and Where It Stays
During setup, a parent or child chooses a language, a grade level, a first name (or nickname) and a cartoon avatar for each child profile. Up to four profiles are supported on one paid subscription. None of this is a real identity check, and none of it is transmitted off the device — it is written to a local SQLite database that lives in the app's own storage.
- First name or nickname
- Stored on-device only. Never uploaded.
- Grade level (K–5)
- Stored on-device only. Used to pick the starting lesson.
- Avatar choice
- Stored on-device only. A preset cartoon icon, not a photo.
- Lesson answers and progress
- Stored on-device only, to schedule review and show the parent progress report.
- Drawings made in the Create tab
- Stored on-device only. Never uploaded, never shared.
- Email address, phone number, home address, photo, precise location
- Never collected — there is no field for any of these anywhere in the child-facing app.
Uninstalling the app deletes this data
Because everything above lives only in the app's local storage, removing Kiko from the device removes it too. The parent zone also has a "Delete everything" option that does the same thing without uninstalling.
5.The Parent Zone
Behind a simple number-sequence lock (to keep small fingers out, not to authenticate an identity), a parent can see a weekly progress report, set screen-time and bedtime limits, manage child profiles, and reach subscription and account-deletion controls. Nothing typed into the parent zone leaves the device either — there is no AXPERTZ server that Kiko reports to.
6.Subscriptions and Purchases
Kiko Plus, the optional paid subscription, is sold and billed entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play's in-app purchase systems. AXPERTZ never sees or stores your card number, billing address or Apple/Google account details — that relationship, and its own privacy protections, are with Apple or Google. AXPERTZ only receives confirmation of which subscription is active, so the app can unlock the paid content.
7.Advertising
iOS: no advertising at all
The iOS build of Kiko contains no advertising code path. This is deliberate — Apple's Kids Category rules on third-party advertising are stricter than the App Store baseline, so Kiko is built to not need an exception.
On Android, a small banner ad may appear on menu and results screens for users who have not subscribed to Kiko Plus — never inside a lesson, a quiz, or the drawing canvas. Every ad request is sent to Google's AdMob with two settings forced on in code, not configurable from a dashboard: non-personalised ads only, and Google's child-directed treatment flag. This means no behavioural profiling, no ad tracking identifiers, and no interest-based targeting — which is what COPPA and India's DPDP Act require for advertising reaching children. Kiko Plus subscribers see no ads on either platform.
9.Children's Privacy (COPPA / DPDP)
Kiko is built so that COPPA's and the DPDP Act's children's-data protections are the default for every user, not a mode a parent has to switch on: no account creation for the child, no collection of persistent identifiers tied to a real child's identity, no behavioural advertising, and no data transmitted off the device in the first place. Because there is no server-side collection to consent to, Kiko does not operate a "verifiable parental consent" flow of the kind COPPA describes for apps that do collect children's data — there is nothing collected that would trigger it.
If a parent believes their child has entered personal information anywhere in the app despite these safeguards, contact us at the email below and we will help you locate and remove it — though in practice this would require finding a text field the app does not have.
10.Security
Because a child's data is stored only in the app's private, sandboxed storage on their own device — the same protection iOS and Android give to every app's local data — there is no AXPERTZ server or database holding it that could be breached. The security question that matters most for Kiko is physical: anyone with access to the unlocked device can open the app. The parent-zone number lock keeps a young child out of settings and purchases; it is not a substitute for normal device security.
11.Data Retention
Local data (profile, progress, drawings) is kept for as long as the app remains installed, so learning can resume where it left off. It is removed the moment the app is uninstalled, or immediately if a parent uses "Delete everything" in the parent zone.
12.Changes to This Policy
If what Kiko collects or how it handles advertising changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date below will change. Material changes affecting children's data will also be reflected in the app's own in-app privacy summary before the update reaches users.
