FOCUS Privacy Policy

• No account, no sign-up, no email address, no phone number.
• One banner advertisement, at the bottom of the session screen, served by Google AdMob. There are no ads anywhere else in the app, and no full-screen or interstitial ads at all.
• Google Mobile Ads is the only third-party SDK in the app. We have added no analytics of our own.
• The accessibility permission is used to read one thing: the name of the app currently in front of you, so a blocked one can be sent away.
• The app never reads screen content, messages, or anything you type — in FOCUS or in any other app. Nothing the accessibility service sees is shared with the ad SDK.
• Phone calls and text messages are never blocked, however long a session runs.
• Your PIN is stored only as a one-way hash; the PIN itself is never saved.

AXPERTZ FOCUS is made by AXPERTZ, the software product brand of AXPERTZ ONLINE CONNECT LLP, at House No. 274, Ward No. 4, Ashtvinayak Colony, Tekari, Kanhan, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, 441404. In this policy "we" and "the app" mean AXPERTZ FOCUS specifically; our other products have their own policies.

FOCUS is a self-control app: you choose a length of time and a set of apps, and for that period the app keeps the distracting ones out of reach. Android offers exactly one way for an app to know that another app has just been opened — the AccessibilityService API. That is the whole reason FOCUS asks for it.

When Android tells our service that a window has come to the front, we read a single field from that event: the package name of the app now in the foreground, for example "com.instagram.android". We compare that name, in memory, against the list you selected yourself. If it is on your blocked list we send you back to the home screen and show how much of your session remains. If it is not, nothing happens at all.

Before FOCUS asks for this permission, it shows a full-screen disclosure explaining all of the above in your own language. You must acknowledge that screen before setup continues. You can withdraw the permission at any time in Android Settings; the moment you do, FOCUS stops blocking anything.

All of the following lives in the app's private, sandboxed storage on your device — the same protection Android gives every app's local data. None of it is transmitted, backed up to us, or shared.

The stats screen shows your total screen time next to the minutes you actually spent focused. Those screen-time numbers come from Android's own UsageStatsManager, which requires the separate "Usage access" permission you grant in Settings. FOCUS reads the daily totals when you open the stats screen and draws them; it does not copy them into its own storage and does not keep a per-app history. This permission is optional in the sense that revoking it only removes the screen-time figures — the locking still works.

Your default phone app, your default messaging app, your contacts, the clock and the launcher are permanently exempt in the app's code. No session, of any length, can stop you making or receiving a call or a text. This is a safety property, not a setting, and it cannot be switched off.

One banner advertisement appears at the bottom of the session screen — the screen showing your countdown. It is served by Google AdMob. There are no ads on any other screen, and no interstitial or full-screen ads anywhere in the app.

To show those ads, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may use your device's advertising ID and coarse technical information such as device model, language and general location derived from your IP address. That exchange is between your device and Google; AXPERTZ has no server in it and receives no personal data from it — only aggregate earnings figures with no individual attached. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and its advertising terms.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads). Doing so does not affect any of the locking features.

Apart from Google AdMob there are no third parties. No analytics library of ours, no crash reporter, no social SDK. We do not sell, rent or share your information, because we never receive it.

FOCUS is a study and self-discipline tool intended for users aged 13 and over, and it is commonly installed by students and by parents helping a student. Because the app collects nothing and transmits nothing, using it does not create a record about anyone, of any age, anywhere outside their own device.

Since there is no AXPERTZ server holding anything about you, there is no database of ours that could be breached — the ad SDK talks to Google, not to us. The realistic risks are local: anyone who can unlock your phone can open FOCUS, and your PIN protects only the early-exit button, not the phone itself. Treat it as a commitment device, not as a security control.

Your settings and your record are kept for as long as the app is installed, so your streak survives. Clearing the app's storage in Android Settings erases everything immediately; uninstalling removes it all. There is nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing. Note that if uninstall protection is switched on you must turn it off first, from the switch on the FOCUS home screen, before Android will let the app be removed.

If what FOCUS reads or stores ever changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date below will change with it. Any change that widened what the accessibility service reads would also be reflected in the app's own disclosure screen before it reached you.
